New at BigTent: membership management, enrollment upgrades

Now it’s even easier to sign up members and manage their information in your BigTent groups:

Member manage page. This new addition your group’s Manage area enables you to navigate all the ins and outs of the membership process. You can change membership types and end dates, suspend or remove members, and create exceptions to your group renewal rules.

For example, let’s say Helene enjoyed her trial membership and upgraded early to a full membership. In just a few clicks, you can make this change in your group records:

Revised enrollment process. We’ve shortened the number of steps it takes for a new member to join your group, and we’ve made things more familiar by adding your group name and logo to every sign up page.

New BigTent Features: Make Money, Add Color

This week, we’re excited to announce our latest release, which contains two great additions to BigTent:

1) Shopping: Earn money for your group with our new Shop feature

We know that many groups work hard to raise money for their activities & causes, so we’ve created an easy way for your group to do it. We’ve added an area where members can make purchases from select retailers who allow us to return a portion of these sales to your group. Some of these retailers include iTunes, Benefit Cosmetics, Disney Store, Netflix and Office Depot. To see a full list of retailers, and to start shopping, just go to your group and click on the Shop tab.

2) Color Customization: Add color to your group with themes

Last release we gave group leaders the ability to feature content such as news, photos, and even video on the group Buzz page. To let you further personalize your group, in this release we’re allowing group leaders to customize the group’s theme color (header and links) and background color. Group leaders can pick from a pre-defined set of colors and background patterns to customize their BigTent group.

New features in the Tent

This week, we’re excited to announce our latest release, which contains three great additions to BigTent:

1. Invite friends. Grow your group without lifting a finger! Now members can invite their friends to join your group. Group members can type in email addresses of invitees, or import contacts directly from AOL, Hotmail, Yahoo, Gmail, or MSN.

2. Tell a friend. It’s free publicity for your group. Members can send their friends a message containing a link to your group’s public website, or they can even share a link on their Facebook profiles.

3. Manage area upgrades. In an effort to make our management tools more accessible, we’ve moved some things around. We’ve created a new “Group Dashboard” tab, which allows you to update settings for different features, plus take care of common administrative tasks.

We’ve also added a “Get Support” tab, which points you to several resources to help you launch and maintain your group.

Tent Talk Goes Live

We just launched our company blog, Tent Talk, on WordPress! This change will allow you to get an inside view of what’s going on in the Tent– a look behind the scenes.

BigTent Remembers You

By popular request, we’ve created a feature for BigTent users to stay logged in to BigTent for two weeks. To use this feature, go to www.bigtent.com and simply check the box that says “Remember me” (on other pages, it says “Keep me signed in”). We hope this feature will save you time when you’re using BigTent on a familiar computer, such as your home computer.

If you’re logging on to BigTent from a public computer, please protect your secure information by leaving the box unchecked. We look forward to seeing you in the Tent!
